Ella & Jack is my way of offering you the soft place to land I once needed

My story

Leaf

Hi, I’m Annemarie, consultant by day, nature wanderer by heart and proud collector of vintage fountain pens.

And I’m a mum of three. I have been building Ella & Jack for nine years. Not as a brand strategy - as a practice. A way of paying attention to the season and passing that on, to my children, and to the women I work with who tell me they have been meaning to do this for years.

It all started around 4PM every day — that tricky hour when the house felt restless, one of my kids was bored, another was asking for a snack and I was still somewhere between work-mode and mom-mode.

I had a beautiful notebook filled with nature activities and creative outdoor ideas. Actually, two notebooks — and I could never decide which one to use. But instead of inspiring me, they were collecting dust.

One day, I chose just one idea. One small walk. One dandelion crown. One moment outside. That changed everything.

That tiny pause became a rhythm.

It wasn’t just for my kids — it was for me. A simple way to reconnect with nature, feel joy, and breathe again.

That’s how Ella & Jack was born: not from slow living, but from choosing presence over perfection.

Ella & Jack brings:

Every Friday - one thing to notice outside, one thing to try, one thing to hold onto the season. Through Through playpost (weekly) and Backpack Bulletin (monthly)

Little Letters

About Ella & Jack

Ella is my daughter — she likes to look at the world upside down. Jack is her cousin in Canada. When Ella sees a butterfly, Jack sees a bear.

They write Little Letters to each other about the things they find — read those on the blog.

More About Me

I live in the Netherlands, where the seasons guide how I work and play, and I’m happiest walking home through the woods after school drop-off.

I love to keep my favourite ideas in my Seasonal Scrapbook, and you’ll find those on the blog.
